A New Leash on Life In the Valley of the Dry Dog Bones

© 1997 Ginger Henry Geyer
glazed porcelain
9 parts installed app. 4" x 14" x 16"

Porcelain dog bones and biscuits are hereby entangled in a porcelain leash, making all sorts of corny connections. Look for puns taken from slogans, an old hymn, a children's song, and scripture, plus a key word that is twisted.

Hint: look up Ezekiel’s vision of the wasteland (Ezekiel 37: 1-14), and also
Micah 6:8…

New leash
at least
it's red with life
and treats and pants and
growls so low:
"Breathe on me breath of dog."

Roll over,
dyslexic hymn in heat,
the bonepile makes connections:
Headbone to backbone,
backbone to tailbone,
tailbone to leg bones--
Go. Clasp.
Get tangled in your leash.
and walk humbly with your dog.
